Silv-IonTM
Colex Silv-IonTM PVC Hose and Tube is produced from clear flexible Shore A 74 PVC compound formulated from FDA Approved ingredients.
The material has been specially developed to combat the many microbial organisms that are harmful to people, such as MRSA, E-Coli, Pseudomonas, Streptococci and Salmonella.
In addition, it also protects against organisms that can cause problems with standard Hose and Tube such as growth based discoloration and bad odours.
How does it work?
The antimicrobial properties of Silv-IonTM are based upon Silver ions.
Moisture in the atmosphere combines with the silver system to release the ions at the surface, these ions interact with a target microbe causing it to quickly die.
Colex Silv-IonTM offers all of the properties associated with our standard PVC products with added antibacterial protection.
Applications
Colex Silv-IonTM is suitable for use in Hospitals and Healthcare due to it’s ability to destroy bacterial cells.
However, community-acquired MRSA (or C-MRSA) can now be found in communal areas, such as Schools, health-clubs and houses, making the applications for Colex Silv-IonTM endless.
Testing
When tested to ISO 22196:2007, a quantitative anti-bacterial test, the tubes and hose material will reduce bacterial viable counts by more than 99.9%.
A certified test certificate on the material in the tubes and hoses can, on request, be supplied with orders to demonstrate this fact.
Longevity
The anti-microbial system is compounded into the PVC material, and is therefore dispersed evenly.
Silver does not deteriorate, it is not affected by ageing or weathering, and performance is not affected by scratches, bumps or general wear and tear or by most cleaning chemicals.
Therefore the system should last the life of the hose or tube, however in certain cases testing may be advisable.
Products
Protection can be offered on internal or external surfaces, or if necessary throughout the product. In any configuration, the properties of the resulting products will be similar to our standard range of clear flexible PVC Hose and Tubes. Silv-Ion construction options.
